OpenAMS turns a multi-material unit into a smart appliance for your Klipper printer. Your slicer's T0, T1, ... tools become automatic filament changes, an empty spool reloads from a spare one, and every unit, bay and spool shows in Mainsail. It started with Bambu Lab's AMS and is growing to cover other MMUs.
New: the Cortex Bridge. The latest and recommended way to run a Bambu Lab AMS on Klipper. It connects up to four stock AMS1, AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT units over USB, and nothing on the AMS is opened or flashed. It uses Bambu Lab's standard AMS filament buffer as the pressure sensor, so no OpenAMS FPS board is needed. It is coming soon to si-forge.com, with its guide here.
The same OpenAMS software runs on the Klipper computer whichever hardware you have. It replaces the earlier klipper_openams plugin.
| Hardware | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Cortex Bridge (0AMS) | A USB board that connects stock Bambu Lab AMS units to Klipper, through Bambu Lab's standard filament buffer: no OpenAMS FPS board needed. | Latest. Coming soon at si-forge.com. |
| OpenAMS 1 (Legacy) | The OpenAMS mainboard and Filament Pressure Sensor, fitted in place of the AMS1's own controller. | Supported. Guides below. |
| Klipper-MMU | Firmware for the controller of other MMUs, such as BoxTurtle, ERCF and Tradrack, so the MMU runs its own loads, unloads and safety checks. | In development; not yet qualified on real hardware. |
For an AMS1 fitted with the OpenAMS mainboard and Filament Pressure Sensor.
